Gathering at the Well
There once was a man who wanted a great wife for his son. There were not many eligible women nearby. So he sent his servant on a trip.
The servant knew the son’s character. He knew what type of woman would be a suitable match. So he began his search with certain qualities in mind. He was intentional. His search was selective. He knew the son would need a wife who displayed virtue, who was hospitable, loyal and dependable.
So he went to the well and then he prayed, “Lord let the woman who offers not only to bring me water, but to water my camels as well, be the woman for my master’s son.”
Then he waited. And watched.
The well was a busy place. It was where the people gathered. It was where the thirsty went.
Soon, a woman appeared. She offered to water his camels. She was the one. She was a perfect match.
Today, we have running water but the web is where the people gather. It’s where the thirsty go. It’s where the searching watch and wait—for a mate.
The web.
Today’s well.
What do you think?
